—  About

Marisa Mysko is an art lover whose medium is the human face and body.

Ever since I was young, I have loved the arts. I grew up loving literature, music, paintings and photography.  As a child, I subscribed to fashion magazines to study world fashion, and I would mimic my hair and outfits to what I would see in those magazines.  Although I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until my older years, the suppression of not being able to wear it had me studying every detail with hopes of being able to carry out those same looks as I grew older.

A serious career began in skincare when I completed my education through Von Lee International School of Aesthetics in 2009.  I continued to further my education in skin with many courses and certifications through the International Dermal Institute.  With makeup being under the umbrella of skincare, I began working for Smashbox Cosmetics as a makeup artist for several years beginning in 2011.  It was while working for Smashbox that I had the opportunity to learn about photography makeup and worked along side Steven Kahn, celebrity photographer.  Soon after, I also began my career as a freelance artist working weddings and special events.  Since makeup instruction is limited in esthetics school, I immersed myself in education.  I took many private classes from local Baltimore artists, read books and researched everything I could.  I also traveled up and down the east coast for the bigger artist workshops such as Marisa Ross and Jordan Liberty.  I have received additional training from working for national brands such as NARS, Juice Beauty and Too Faced Cosmetics which has also given me an immeasurable amount of experience in dealing with the public - to know what they are looking for and getting to know hundreds of different makeup lines at the same time.  I did take a year to dedicate working as an esthetician in a salon to get that hands on experience.  I was able to experience salon life and I especially enjoyed waxing.  But, my first love is makeup and that is what I wanted to be doing all of the time.

All of my experience has helped me to develop into a stronger makeup artist with these layers of education that I have under my belt.

Freelance work has taken me all over and I have been able to diversify my work from TV/film to teaching classes of 10+, to weddings of all sorts to on-location website work to doing makeup for professional sports teams. It is fun and ever changing!

Simply put, I am in love with learning and creating.  I will always do what I can to gain more knowledge and get the most out of every experience.  Thank you for your time in checking out my website and learning more about me.  I hope to work with you soon!
